What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is considered the best supported treatment for people with severe, complex, and emotion-based problems including suicidality, self-harm, and borderline personality disorder (BPD). The goal of DBT is to help people build a life worth living by balancing accepting life that has pain while simultaneously changing ways of regulating strong emotions to reduce suffering.

DBT helps those struggling with:

  • Extreme emotion dysregulation

  • Interpersonal difficulties

  • Impulsivity

  • Rigid and inflexible ways of thinking and acting

  • Deficits in mindfulness (or awareness of what is happening in any given moment, both internally and externally)

We offer comprehensive DBT consisting of all four modes of treatment.

  1. Individual therapy sessions

  2. Skills group (multi-family for adolescents)

  3. 24-hour phone coaching

  4. Therapist consultation team

We provide DBT for children (ages 8-12), adolescents, and adults. Parenting and family sessions are scheduled as needed.
